In the northern part of the island there are three villages, Spartochori, Vathi and Katomeri, where there are rooms for rent and hotels, restaurants, cafes and everything you need for your stay. The southern part is not inhabited since it is a long and narrow piece of land.
There are only two organized beaches in Meganisi, Spilia and Fanari, all the rest are without facilities and very quiet. The coastline of the island forms many bays ideal for swimming, all you have to do is explore and definitely find the ideal place.
It is one of the largest islands in the area along with Kalamos. Meganisi also owns the legendary island of Skorpios. During the Greek Revolution of 1821 Meganisi was a significant refuge for many Greek rebels.
